TENSEGRITIES
Geometry modeled with Rhinoceros, Grasshopper and Kangaroo
Drawings produced with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
What originated as an exercise in digital fabrication, approached through 3-dimensional modeling and automated production, led to a deeper exploration of physical simulation in which the digitally modeled may directly reflect the resultant constructed and assembled outcome.
What began as an endeavour in the design and construction of a small-scale set of tensegrity models, additively fabricated with ABS and PLA plastic, allowed me to approach a few of the possible combinations of the same constinuent tension and compression pieces. Grasshopper and Kangaroo provided the means to simulate the structure in tension-compression equilibrium, providing a basis of design for stable forms.
